Favicon Generator online

Favicons

Love them or loathe them, they are pretty ubiquitous - even if they tend to be a bit flaky in IE!

It has to be said that they are helpful in identifying a bookmark if, like me you tend to have a vast list saved!!

Because these little darlings require the very specific .ico extension, and most graphics packages just don't support the format, it is sometimes just too much trouble to create one.

Well trouble yourself no more!

Just click your way over to http://www.html-kit.com/e/favicon.cgi browse your way to an image, click on the button and, 'Hey Presto!', as if by magic, your very own favicon! All that is left to do is to fire it up to your server (we recommend putting it in your root directory, coz IE tends to prefer it there, if it can find it at all!) and fire a quick:

<link rel="Shortcut Icon" href="favicon.ico">

in your <head> code, and Robert is your Mother's Brother.

Enjoy, and 'Thanks to the html-kit Guys!'
